Product Appearance
This device features a compact, heavy-duty metallic housing, typically constructed from forged aluminum or steel, offering a robust yet lightweight profile. Its form is streamlined to reduce snagging, with a prominent attachment point for a harness connector. The rope channel is clearly visible and accessible, and the housing is often finished in a high-visibility color (e.g., yellow or orange) for easy identification on the worksite. Mechanism Design
The core mechanism employs an inertial cam system. Under normal movement, the unit slides freely along the lifeline. During a sudden fall, the internal weighted cam instantly rotates due to the rapid acceleration, forcefully gripping the rope between the cam and the housing to stop the descent. This automatic activation requires no manual intervention. The design includes a manual test/reset function and often a window to inspect rope engagement and wear on the cam.

Standard components include the main housing, the primary engagement cam (often replaceable), a secondary cam or guide roller to reduce rope friction, a harness connection hole with a integrated carabiner or shackle, and retaining pins or screws.
